Through this video, we try to understand the concept of ICT.  What do we mean by the term ICT?  Many a time when this question is asked to us we can only give a full form like Information Communication Technology.  But, it is very important to understand the concept of ICT for its effective use in education.
  According to UNESCO, ICT refers to a set of technologies, tools, and resources.  Which can digitize and store information.  And you can take it.  Whenever we give a lecture we try to list the essential qualities.  Which will help to categorize examples and illustrations.

Let us try to make a list of essential features to understand the concept of ICT.  Let’s look at an example.  Have you clicked photos using a smartphone?  What do you do when you click a photo?  Whenever we click on a photograph we actually create digital information about the person or thing or the situation that we clicked.
  The generated digital information is stored in our mobile.  The stored information can be retrieved from mobile anytime whenever we need it.  Features like cutting (CUT), edit (edit) or add (add) something stored can also be obtained.  Sometimes you can send such digital information to others to make multiple copies.
The stored digital image can be sent to others by any means, obtained from someone as well as giving ‘like’, comment ’or descriptive feedback.  Thus, ICT is a process that combines software and hardware, creating, storing, retrieving, editing, sending, and receiving digital information.  ICT does not always have to be a specific tool.

  We have taken smartphones as just an example to exchange information with internet connectivity.  For example, the instant messenger can create a system called ICT.  Often as teachers, we stick to the use of ICT in the classroom.  Let us consider this example.
  When a teacher uses a slide presentation for teaching in his classroom, can the teacher claim that he uses ICT?  No, can’t because when a teacher is using a slide presentation it is already stored as digital information in the classroom he is able to retrieve and use it.  Sometimes he can do it when he has to make some improvements but most of the time the message where it was supposed to be sent and received only goes in physical form.

Now is the time to ponder whether we really use ICT or just digital technology and claim to have used ICT?  Let us consider for ourselves where we are.  Are we considering using ICT to the fullest to make study teaching effective?  Now let’s try to use all the essential features of ICT and make meaningful use of ICT in our classroom.
