Basic Literacy and Numeracy Mission – An Introduction – Copy Dear Scholars, Welcome.  As you know, our country has recently announced the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.  Its breadth and inclusion have been well appreciated.  
 
This is the first policy to advocate bringing preschool education into the mainstream of a formal institutionalized education system.  Another important emphasis of this policy is on developing basic literacy and numeracy (FLN) skills for all children up to standard 3.  
 
It is understood from the policy’s priorities attached to FLN and its confirmation that “the rest of the policy will only be relevant to our students if this most basic learning requirement (i.e., basic reading, writing and arithmetic) is achieved first.”  In view of the challenge of equipping every child with basic FLV skills, FLN has been launched by the Government with the mission understanding “National Initiative for Reading Fluency and Numeracy or Proficient India” India

The mission’s vision is to create an enabling environment to ensure basic literacy and universal acquisition of numbers, so that every child achieves the desired learning ability in reading, writing and numeracy by the end of third grade.  Will be identified with, and various strategies will be initiated keeping in view the local circumstances and the diversity of the country.

It is also suggested that the undergraduate student be given a number of options for admission in the study of education, such as a four-year integrated undergraduate course for primary and secondary level with more than one option as the main subject.  Science Mathematics Arts Language Studies and Anthropology.  Such diversity will attract bright and studious students to the education course and will motivate them to study in options like teacher-training, research curriculum and teaching.
