After the fall of Gurjar Pratihar Empire, Garhwal state of Kanoj, Chandelo state of Bundelkhand (Jejakbhukti), Parmar state of Malwa, Chaulukya (Solanki) state of Anhilwad, Chedi state of Dahl, Chauhan state of Shakambari, Gohil state of South Rajasthan.  The founder of the Garhwal kingdom was Chandradev.  He also made Kashi the second capital besides Kannauj.  

                   This dynasty had rulers like Madan Chandra and Govind Chandra.  In which Govindchandra was the most majestic and heroic king of this clan.  He stopped the invasion of Ghazni.  As well as renovated several Buddhist monasteries.  Other rulers of northern India include the Chandels of Bundelkhand.  This state of Chandelo in the Bundelkhand region was later known as Jejakbhukti.  There were great rulers like Yashovarma, Kirtivarma, Parmarnidev (Parmal) in this state.  The Chandel dynasty has a lot of significance in the history of India.  Khajuraho, Kalingar and Mahoba were the main towns of Chandelo.  Khajuraho became famous as a place of pilgrimage due to its magnificent temples.  Chandello built and decorated great religious buildings and reservoirs in Bundelkhand.
